PEBC = Some big changes in Canada, starting with Alberta.

The way Pharmacy Technicians are regulated in Alberta, Canada is changing. I'm in the process of learning more about it from this
16 page PDF newsletter from the Alberta College of pharmacists.
From what I gather, even seasoned/veteran technicians will have to take and pass a series of exams. The Exams are published and administered by the PEBC - Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada.
