finishing up pharmacy tech school

I cannot believe I found this site so late!! This is such an amazing site. Anyways, I'm from Canada. I'm taking an online accredited pharmacy tech course. We just finished all the book work and now I'm at my school for 6 weeks to do all the labs. Ive been having troubles with the math part of this course. When do you suggest I take the certification exam after I finish my course? lots of people say take it right out of school and others say to work for a bit and then do the exam? anyone have any feedback on personal experiences?
